The ‘Do One Thing Energy-Saving Challenge’ blog

Watch the Fairhalls practice what we preach. Filming themselves doing at least one thing to conserve energy, cut their bills and save themselves some dosh.

  1. Cooking up some energy saving tips

    The oven is an essential household appliance that most people use fairly regularly. Unfortunately it’s also the appliance that uses the most energy by far.

    The Fairhall family have been looking at ways to cook healthy, hearty meals and cut the amount of energy they use in the kitchen. See how they got on;

  2. The Fairhalls check their heating is ready for winter

    As the weather starts to turn a little colder it’s a good time to check that your heating is working. If you haven’t already, turning it on now could help prevent you from being left in the cold when the really chilly winter weather comes.

    Our heating engineers get really busy towards the end of the year as customers turn on their heating for the first time and find a pump has seized or a pilot light won’t light. Ideally you should beat the rush by checking your heating at the end of summer but if you’re still to turn on your heating this autumn, now’s the time to check it. If you need repairs to your boiler or heating system you can book it in before you really miss your central heating.

    It’s really easy to check your heating is in good working order, just watch the Fairhalls check theirs;

  3. The Fairhall family Do1Thing in the Summer Holidays

    It’s the summer holidays so this month the Fairhall children have been on a mission to help their parents save energy and recycle more.

    We know that you’ll be looking for things to keep the family occupied during the summer holidays so with this in mind, Circle Housing families have been sent a free Do1Thing kids summer activity magazine. Packed with fun activities and plenty of energy saving ideas, there’s also loads of competitions where you could win lots of cool prizes for the whole family.

    Click here to see more about the Do1Thing Summer magazine, play more games and puzzles and to download a pdf of the magazine.

    Armed with their copy of the Do1Thing summer holidays magazine, Cameron and Skye have been busy completing the tasks within it.

    Watch the video below to see how easy it is to make simple seed planters that will keep the children entertained as well as reusing some of household rubbish.
